Yeah, the thread's not meant for big extended debates, but it's still terrible news indeed:

And all this is because of another fucking porn loop:

That being said: whether it breaks the rules or not, whether it counts as a technicality or not, whether people complain about it or not, whether it complies with American laws or not, it does not change the fact that the submission itself is almost bordering on pornographic and is thus wouldn't be worthy.

To close this off: I'm worried about the future of the awards in general. Unless the rules are as airtight as possible to prevent such an issue, we can't have nice things.

Having watched it I would say that the #5 submission isn't pornographic. I'd even go so far to suggest that if that was an animation of a 'female' character getting her tail petted, nobody would have complained about a "T"-rating if it had have been a submission to the 'Art Portal'.

On that note: That is 'absolutely' a very short animated PNG made into a movie format. No BGM, no SFX, no voice acting. There is no reason this would have needed to be submitted as a movie.

Alright... I found the time to look at the other candidates and noticed a total lack of complaints and weird reviews for #9 which also a very short loop without any audio.

I do _not_ accuse anybody of being homophobic. But I 'do' notice that there are two measures being used by certain members of the community.

I think 'lewd stuff' can be funny, wholesome, heartwarming, interesting, thought-provoking, etc. just as 'non-lewd stuff' can. The #5 submission is at least interesting - although it's pretty lazy when it comes to craftsmanship...

The thing that bugs me most about this whole affair is that it is such a tiny thing that was blown up bigger that it had any right to be. Where are the complaints when somebody uploads the n-th 10 second "meme"-loop for a "meme" nobody knows or cares for, huh...?

Sure it's very barebones, but it didn't actually win, To me it's just a mediocre upload that did absolutely nothing to harm anyone, though I will be cautious now.

That being said, there is proof that there's room for funny and creative movies that still contain nudity and sexualization and have them stand out in the adult space, rather than have the same lazy porn loops and SFM renders plague that side of the site in recent years, but that's its own issue. I don't disagree that the submission 'Tail Pull 01' is lazy from an animation standpoint. But I also cannot claim that I have seen something similar before, making it rather creative. And the people like what they like.

#4 is 'literally' a dude playing with his figurines playing a conversation children would have. (Yes, I know: "Africa Dudes"... Doesn't make it any more engaging.)

#3 Is (to the best of my understanding #not-my-doctor) an animation of a scene that already existed with audio that's "probably" under copyright...

There are 'a ton' of lazy submissions to NG daily - most of which get mysteriously passed. But I could not imagine starting a discussion just because I am dissatisfied with the results of my fellow Newgroundians' poor taste. (What I 'could' imagine would be scratchdex [the author] changing the age rating themselves because they were fed up with the discussion/PMs surrounding it...)
